Toilet Bowl Types by Rozar
Toilets are available as one- or two- piece units. The one-piece toilet consists of a rear tank and a toilet, both made as a single, integral unit. The advantage of such a toilet is that the connecting pipe between the tank and the toilet bowl is hidden. One-piece toilets are also easy to clean. They are more expensive than two- piece models.
The tank of either type of toilet is supported on the wall by means of tank brackets devoid of a filter. However, the one-piece tank gets added support from the toilet section because it is made as a single unit.
In the two-piece unit the tank may be fairly close to the bowl attached by a pipe, as in drawing B in, or it may be further away, as in drawing C.
The wall-hung toilet (d) has the advantage of greater cleanliness, since it is possible to clean the floor under and around the bowl. However, a bowl of this kind must be strongly supported such as with iron, and it may be necessary to reinforce the wall behind the toilet.
Where bathroom space is at a premium affecting laundry, it is possible to use a corner toilet(E). The tank, instead of being rectangular in shape, as with most toilets in the home, is triangular. The tank is supported by both walls, however, Tucson plumbers would know better.
The chart at the top of the drawings supplies the height and width of the toilet tanks and also the extension of the fixture into the room, measured in inches.
Showers
The most generally used shower arrangement is the over-the-tube type illustrated in. Such showers may use the tub supply valves with extra valves to transfer the water flow to the shower head or the boilers, or they may use two separate valves connected only to the shower head. Some have a mixing valve that changes the proportions of hot and cold water by a single handle,one may find a cd or a video.
Ideally, the best time to consider an over-the-tub shower is when the bathroom is being installed. In that way the pipes can be concealed in the wall. Alternatively, you can have part of the wall knocked out, if your intentions are simply to add a shower, and then have the wall repaired and refinished. The most economical and easiest way is to install a shower fixture with the pipes exposed. However, you must still make a connection to the water supply, and this will involve knocking out a small part of the wall.
Shower Heads
Shower heads are made of chrome- plated brass, chrome-plated plastic, or white cyclic. The head has a swivel joint so you can direct the spray as you wish. Some are equipped with a face plate to let you get almost any kind of water spray pattern you want. Some heads have a water volume control so you can shut off the spray at the shower head,such a doing could involve gas as well.
The pipe connecting the head to the water supply pipe in the wall is known as a flange,it could lead to a heater as well. It is threaded at both ends so as to make an easy connection to a fitting in the water supply pipe and also to the head. Some models have both volume and spray regulators.
The shower head should be at least 6 feet 2 inches above the floor of the tub. If you decide to use a tub shower, you should have a shower curtain to keep water from the shower off the floor. For some tubs you can also get a sliding door glass enclosure. However, these enclosures aren’t available for every tub style, so if you intend having a shower and want a glass enclosure you may find yourself limited in your choice of tub selection. When installing a rod for a shower curtain, make sure the rod is about 4 inches above the shower head.
