Museum Quality Antique
What country, example, and year do these paintings come from?
I'm trying to find old paintings that have these qualities:
Weaved Celtic-like borders
Maidens of Anglo-Saxon heritage
Usually has one maiden with flowers and plants around her while wearing a billowing dress/sheet
Image is "flat" (i.e. hair is usually one flat color)
If you know the country, years they were created, or even a link to an example that would be great!
I've seen these painting in a couple museums and in an antique children book with a language I couldn't read.
I wonder if you're thinking of Alfons Mucha (1860-1939) ?

How can I ask someone about their profession without seeming rude?
I've gotten someone to agree to let me come see a valuable vintage coat. He has an almost museum quality collection and I would like to learn about vintage and antique clothing and textiles because that's the line of work I'd like to get into. I e-mailed him about coming to see the coat (this is on etsy, and he happens to be local) and his said that normally he doesn't have people come and look at things but he was willing to accomodate me because this particular piece was so valuable. What would be best way to approach him about his work. I really want to talk to him because he's the only one in my area that I know of who's in this line of work.
Rude? Why would you be rude? If your passion is this vintage thingy, then go for it. He will obviously notice it and he will even feel flattered that you are going to him for advice. Who doesn't want to talk about themselves? I don't think he is the exception, especially if that's the profession he chose for himself.
Just be yourself. How hard can that be? Unless you are too forthcoming with personal things, keep that at check, and everything will be fine. Stay professional, and ask only about the piece.
